The young person is the starting point of adolescent catechesis. He or
she has a story to tell, hopes and aspirations to be encouraged, and experiences
to share. Therefore Living Our Faith meets young
adolescents where they are, with materials that honor their experience
and invite them to grow in their faith.
Each of the six titles in the Living Our Faith
series consists of ten chapters and includes a Student Text and
a Leader’s Guide.
The Student Text incorporates the following features:
Opening the Word
Provides a relevant Scripture passage pertaining to the chapter.
Our Christian Journey
Contains information from the history of the Church.
Catholics Believe
Offers a paraphrased reference from the Catechism of the Catholic Church and
space for students to reflect on how the statement affects their faith journey.
Additional features include a student leadership component; faith partnership
opportunities; background on specific Catholic rites and practices; and
information on cultural events, groups, or customs relevant to the chapter
theme.
The Leader’s Guide has reduced Student Text pages
and wraparound lesson plans. Features include planning pages; a practical
guide through the lesson; and a resource center that includes extension
activities for the parish, school, and home.
